Course Overview

This course introduces participants to the principles, strategies and practical approaches for advancing inclusive social development and implementing the principle of Leaving No One Behind (LNOB). Sustainable development requires more than economic growth and improved services; it requires institutions and development programmes that address inequality, remove barriers to participation and ensure that all people have meaningful opportunities to benefit from and contribute to development. The programme provides a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing poverty, inequality, discrimination, exclusion, vulnerability and unequal access to social, economic, political and institutional opportunities. Participants will examine how structural and systemic factors can prevent particular populations from fully participating in development and will explore practical approaches for identifying people at risk of being left behind. Particular attention is given to inclusive policy development, equitable service delivery, participation and empowerment, social protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, community engagement and the use of disaggregated data to identify inequalities and measure progress. Participants will also explore how LNOB can be integrated into institutional strategies, development programmes and SDG implementation.
