Course Overview

This course introduces participants to the principles and practical application of human rights due diligence in business, investment and development-finance environments. As organisations operate across increasingly complex supply chains, markets and communities, human-rights considerations have become an important component of responsible business conduct, corporate governance, investment decision-making, sustainability and long-term organisational value. The programme provides a comprehensive understanding of how businesses, investors and development-finance institutions can identify, assess, prevent, mitigate, monitor and address actual and potential adverse human-rights impacts arising from their operations, projects, business relationships and supply chains. Participants will examine the relationship between human rights, corporate governance, ESG, responsible investment, procurement, labour practices, community engagement and social risk management. Particular attention is given to human rights risk identification, due-diligence processes, human rights impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, supply-chain responsibility, grievance and remediation mechanisms, and institutional accountability. Participants will also explore how effective due diligence can strengthen organizational resilience, stakeholder trust, responsible investment and sustainable business practices.
